In 2016, contemporary arts organisations 30 Bird and Publicworks delivered a 12month Artist-in-Residence at the Medical Research Council’s Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus (CBC). The aim was to engage the public in the LMB’s work. The artists work with many of the LMB’s 600 staff to investigate their work, and draw it out into the public realm through meetings, workshops, events and installations. Over the course of the year the staff became actively involved in the public engagement process, culminating in a public performance exhibition and installation at the LMB, which illuminated the lab’s work and opened it up to public discussion and enquiry. The film below documents this finale.
