The Wing Development will form a new urban extension to Cambridge on the east of the city. The Marshalls site will develop its land allocated for housing north of Newmarket Road. The site will benefit from urban and rural living.
The aims is that art is integrated from the start to produce a higher quality environment for those using the Wing development and the development has appointed a lead artist to ensure the project is led with experience and enthusiasm. Matthew Lane-Sanderson who grew up in Cambridge and has undertaken many projects in and around the City, most famously the Corpus Christi Clock is working alongside an art steering group to deliver this project alongside a number of other artists. The general theme for the public art is “Transforming the Ordinary” with a thought towards Victorian engineering also being incorporated.
